Our Story

OOP began selling outdoor furniture on The Parade, Norwood, South Australia in 1983, in a 100 year old bluestone cottage.

In 1987  it underwent a total refurbishment including a new facade and occupancy of the entire building and from then the innovations kept coming. In 1988 founder, Annie Lovejoy, attended the first gift and homewares Trade Fair in Sydney, purchasing fabulous glassware, crockery and quirky gifts. Despite the absolute pleasure of seeing so many beautiful products imported from all over the world being offered in one venue, her overriding memory was that of the chicken, sandwiches with sliced strawberries and cracked pepper!!

The OOP Cooking Classes began in 2004 and are highly acclaimed for the top ranking South Australian chefs from the very best restaurants combined with wine presenters from SA's renowned wineries.

Approached by Designers Guild, London the following year, the store was privileged to begin selling the beautiful fabrics and wallpapers from this highly regarded range.

In 2014 the front of the store was converted to a cafe serving coffee, opening at 8:30 each morning. It has proved a hugely popular venue for friends to gather for coffees and lunch and have a shop at the same time, as well as many takeaways.

OOP has developed a fabulous website and from here customers shop and send items all over Australia! Renowned for their amazing gift wrapping, every purchase leaves the store looking absolutely stunning.
